Launched in 2023, Daniel Weller is an experimental line that explores how different strains of wheat influence bourbon’s character.

Inspired by and named after the pioneering forefather of the Weller family, this extension of the original wheated bourbon brand showcases Buffalo Trace Distillery’s spirit of innovation while honoring Daniel Weller, grandfather to William Laure Weller and the family traditions he passed down to generations of whiskey makers. The inaugural release is crafted with Emmer wheat, an ancient Egyptian grain rarely seen in modern distilling. Aged nearly 12 years and bottled at 94 proof, it offers a unique perspective on the wheated bourbon legacy.

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Fresh and nutty, with notes of orange zest, hazelnut, cinnamon and caramel.

Palate: Well-rounded blend of bold oak, sweet honey and orchard fruits.

Finish: A complex oak-forward finish complemented by baking spice and leather notes.
