In 1996, bourbon pioneers and retired George T. Stagg Distillery craftsmen gathered at Buffalo Trace to rediscover forgotten traditions, sparking what became known as the “Distiller’s Council.” Reflecting on E.H. Taylor’s trailblazing methods, they revived his original sour mashing process, blending historic technique with modern expertise. This revival led to the creation of Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Distiller’s Council, crafted in near-1880s fashion. Honoring tradition while embracing innovation, this one-of-a-kind expression commemorates that pivotal meeting and celebrates a defining moment in bourbon history.
Distiller's Council has a grain-forward nose with biscuit and pastry notes. The palate offers toasted sugar, dark caramel, creme brulee, plum dessert, and nougat.
