25th Annual Great Buffalo Chase

Kick off Independence Day with a burst of energy and excitement at the 25th Annual Great Buffalo Chase, happening Friday, July 4 at 8:00 AM.

Due to ongoing flood recovery efforts, this year’s event will be a 2.5K Fun Run—perfect for all ages and fitness levels. We're putting the spotlight on festive flair, so come dressed in your most patriotic, creative, and outrageous July 4th costume! We will also have a raffle for all race participants. 

Prizes will be awarded to the best-dressed participants during our lively post-race award ceremony, so don’t hold back on the red, white, and blue!

Costume Contest Age Groups: 

• Under 21
• 21-29
• 30-39
• 40-49
• 50-59
• 60+

But that’s not all! We’re still keeping the competition alive with cash prizes for the top three overall male and female finishers:

• 1st Place: $500
• 2nd Place: $250
• 3rd Place: $100

Whether you're racing to win or running for fun, join us for a morning full of fitness, fun, and patriotic celebration!

Registration fee is $25 before June 26; $30 thereafter. The race will be a chip-timed race and limited to the first 750 runners. Register to participate before July 2, at 12pm.

Registered participants will have the option to pick up race materials, which include a commemorative t-shirt and bib, from Buffalo Trace Distillery on July 3 from 4pm – 6pm or day of race starting at 6:30am. 

All registration proceeds benefit the Frankfort Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4075.

Will you be having a 5K again this year?

We will be having our annual July 4th race. Due to ongoing flood recovery efforts, this year will be a 2.5K fun run.

Will you have prizes?

As we want to focus on the enjoyment of all participants, we will be expanding the costume contest, which will take place during the award ceremony after the race. (Prizes will be awarded based on age groups).

Will there be a cash prize?

We will have cash prizes for the top 3 M/F runners. 

(1st - $500, 2nd - $250, 3rd - $100)

Will there still be a registration fee?

Yes, as in years past, all registration fees will be donated to the VFW. ($25 for early registration and $30 for week of registration).
