HISTORY OF W.L. WELLER
William Larue Weller, born in 1825, was a pioneering whiskey merchant and distiller whose name endures through the celebrated W.L. Weller brand. In 1849, he founded W.L. Weller & Brothers, later W.L. Weller & Sons, and became known for his innovative approach to bourbon-making. Weller championed the use of wheat instead of rye in the mash bill, creating a softer, smoother style of bourbon that set his whiskeys apart.
