The Great Buffalo Chase 5K^©

The 21st annual Great Buffalo Chase 5K© is back in-person at Buffalo Trace Distillery! The certified race route will wind through historic aging warehouses, production facilities and lots of beautiful scenery before finishing up at the Visitor’s Center. Register to participate before July 2, at 12pm. Registration fee is $20 before June 25; $25 thereafter. The race will be a chip timed race and limited to the first 1000 runners.

Registered participants will have the option to pick up race materials, which include a commemorative t-shirt and bib, from Buffalo Trace Distillery on July 3 from 12pm – 6pm or day of race starting at 7am. All registration proceeds benefit the Frankfort Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4075, which hosts the annual Frankfort 4th of July Fireworks show in Downtown Frankfort, KY. Post 4075 has sponsored the fireworks show for over 40 years.

Cash Prizes will be awarded for the top three overall male and female runners after the race concludes. Third place will receive $2,000, second place will receive $2,500 and first place will receive $3,000. Additionally, a $1,000 bonus will be awarded to the first female and male who beat the Great Buffalo Chase record finish time of 13:41 for male runners and 15:26 for female runners. Awards will also be given to the top three male and female finishers in each age group.

All walkers and runners are invited to dress in their best patriotic attire! Special awards will be given for the most patriotic attire after the race concludes.

Race times will be posted to the Buffalo Trace Distillery website on July 5.

Can’t join us in-person? We invite you to join the 21st annual Great Buffalo Chase 5K© virtually! Participate by walking or running from the location of your choice. The virtual race can be completed any time between July 2 – July 4. Register to participate before July 2, at 12pm. Registration fee is $20 before June 25; $25 thereafter. 

Participants will have the option to pick up race materials, which include a commemorative t-shirt and bib, at Buffalo Trace Distillery on July 3 from 12pm – 6pm, or shipped to them for an added $5 shipping & handling fee. Register by Tuesday, June 22 to allow race materials to be shipped and delivered in time for the race.
